Vet tech schools in Georgia include Gwinnet Technical College, which offers a veterinary technician certificate program as well as an associate degree program. The former runs for a minimum of two semesters but is not offered yearly. And admission means applying for and being accepted into the veterinary technology associate program.  The first semester for the certificate program are essential core courses. The actual technical courses are taken up during the second semester. Completion of the certificate program leads to employment as veterinary tech assistance. The vet tech associate degree program is for five semesters, and will qualify graduates to sit for the national veterinary technology certification exam. This program is fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. Ogeechee Technical College has three program offerings for veterinary technology: technician certificate, associate in applied science degree and vet tech sonographer certificate. The technician certificate program takes two semesters to complete, the AAS, six semesters and the specialized sonographer certification course, one semester with a total of 195 contact hours.
