Two vet tech schools in Illinois include the Joliet Junior College and Parkland College. Joliet has a two-year, five-semester associate in applied science degree for individuals wishing to be a certified veterinary technician. The program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and is designed for 48 full time students. Clinical experience is provided at community veterinary hospital facilities. At Parkland College, the program is also a two-year program that awards an associate in applied science degree. The school has a training agreement with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Also fully accredited by AMVA, the second year is spent at University of Illinois, where there is state-of-the-art facilities for use in training. There is also a Vet Tech Institute in Fox College that offers an AAS in veterinary technology. The school’s two-year program is being offered in several campus nationwide, because of its recognition for excellent training in developing veterinary technician professionals.
