Vet tech schools in Texas include the Vet Tech Institute in Houston, which offers an 18-month Associate in Applied Science degree for Veterinary Technician, where the last two months are devoted to externship that will give students ample exposure to the work setting and prepare them for the job after graduation. The program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities. Graduates are eligible to take the national certification exam. At the Texas A & M University, they take pride in Veterinary Medicine division which trains individuals to become holistic professionals. The program is in collaboration with Binn College. Clinicals are divided into two, the first during the summer of the first year for 10 weeks, and the second during the second semester of the following year. Palo Alto College also offers an AVMA-accredited associate of applied science veterinary technology program that qualifies graduates to sit for the national certification exam upon completion of the rigorous training.
